In order to be the best we must overcome our fears. This sounds great, and I bet it would look even better on a motivational poster but the real question is why do we have to let go of our fears? And once we have found out why; how do we do it?
For the purpose of this post let’s break the word “fear” up, letter for letter. False Evidence Appearing Real: Because that is exactly what fear is. It is a belief deeply rooted in our mind which is supposed to protect us from perceived dangers. A fear serves many purposes but it has little place in the pursuit of greatness. Like any belief we seek out evidence to support it, so if we have a fear of setting goals we seek out evidence which supports our belief that goals are dangerous.
Why Overcome Your Fear?
Well if the above paragraph wasn’t enough justification to just jump out and let go of your fears then here’s a little more: How do you expect to be able to be great; to truly give it your all and dedicate yourself 100% to achieving your goals when you constantly have a fear consuming your conscious- and sub-conscious resources. The fact of the matter is that you need as many cognitive resources as possible to achieve your goal.
Furthermore you need courage to believe in yourself enough to make your goals a reality. As I talk about in this blog post we often fear our own potential. And our ultimate belief in our own potential is exactly what we need to achieve greatness.
How To Overcome Your Fear?
Notice it says “how to overcome your fear”, not fears. That’s because this blog post ultimately is about being courageous enough to believe in your full potential.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
This is the fear we must let go of. To do that we must begin to prove to ourselves, through small successes, that we can achieve whatever we desire. We must begin to take responsibility for our lives and create what we wish for. I encourage you to read about taking responsibility for you own life here, and getting some inspiration to overcome your fear here.
