Are you working out 5 times a week and not seeing any results? Have you considered that you might be insane?
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” Albert Einstein
If that’s the definition of insanity then I know a lot of people who’re insane. Insane people who go around doing the same old things, that obviously aren’t working for them and complaining about it. This is just sad.
A good friend of mine once told me “If the picture doesn’t fit the frame, change the frame”. In other words; if your strategy isn’t working for you then change it. Don’t confuse this with not being persistent. I’m all for persistence and I believe it’s one of the keys to success. But there’s a difference between being insane and persistent. Persistent people continue to work towards their goals, changing strategies as needed. Insane people continue to work towards their goals using the same non-working strategy.
So when should you change your strategy? I would say that you should have realistic goals. Don’t expect miracles from your workout or diet. Secondly you need to give it time. Give it 3 weeks and then change one thing at a time, remembering to measure your progress.
So if you’ve just realised that you’re insane and want to change it then start changing your current program or get a new one. I personally recommend Vince Delmonte’s NNMB.
